About me

I started out in theatre when I was 16, getting a job as a casual techie, working on a number of different size shows from small one nighters to large national tours. I have been a flyman, lighting desk op/programmer and stage hand, working my way up to Deputy Technical Manager of the Grove Theatre in Dunstable. I haven't always been staring at spreadsheets, I've been there, done it and got several T-shirts (all very faded!).
I also did a small spell in the Army Reserves, where I was mobilised in 2008 and spent 6 months in Helmand, Afghanistan with 16 Air Assault Brigade. While it was an unforgettable experience it taught me the value of communication, being clear and concise, an ethos I bring into my work.
After deciding on a career change, I began studying accountancy and got a job as a junior accountant in an accounting practice in Hertfordshire. My role covered preparing accounts and tax returns for sole trader and limited companies. The industries we covered ranged from the local pub and shops, to professional contractors and manufactures.
As well as my accountancy training with the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) becoming a Fellow Member in 2021, I also have a first class honours degree in law.
About the firm
I started this practice to enable creative people to have access to good quality tax and accounting advice from someone who hasn't always just been staring a spreadsheet their whole life.
I know that dealing with HMRC can be difficult at best and hopeless at its worst. I aim to take that problem away from you. With me you will get start to finish support and contact, that is both friendly and professional, with a bit of fun thrown in.
When you join us you will get a quick start guide for either sole traders or company directors giving you a basic overview of the things you'll need to know, from What taxes to pay to what kind of expenses you can claim.
I'm also a big fan of getting technology to do the heavy lifting so I can get on with your accounts faster and with greater precision. I have partnered with Xero offering a cloud bookkeeping software package that connects to your online banking pulling through the transactions and making your bookkeeping a doddle.
Your accounts and tax returns are also sent electronically for you to review and sign them wherever you are. Again speeding up the whole process so you can get on with running your business.
